They help build and repair tissues, support immune function, and carry out vital body processes.

Let us talk about the Skin's Structure: What Is the Protein Content of Skin?

The largest organ in the body is our skin out of which protein has a certain amount of the total body.  It makes up approximately 75-80% of the dry weight of skin. These proteins are an important part of the skin's elasticity, strength, and general look.

Did you know that protein produces collagen!

With so many collagen supplements in the market and hype all around, let us understand and talk more about it. Yes, Collagen is the most common protein in the human body. It plays a key role in keeping the skin firm and youthful. Another protein is called elastin which allows the skin to stretch and return to its original shape. Elastin further helps in giving flexibility and resilience to the skin. These proteins form a network together and help to keep the skin firm and plump. The main purpose of collagen is to keep the skin smooth and tight. As we grow older, the production of collagen and elastin starts to lower down. This can lead to wrinkles, sagging, and a loss of firmness. Henceforth, we need protein that is important for maintaining healthy, glowing skin.

A striking comparison is being highlighted between older and younger skin types, focusing on the different layers of the skin.

If Protein Intake Is Not Corrected, what can happen?

Proteins are extremely important for the development of muscles.  If there is not enough protein in body it can lead to problems like:

1. Loss of Skin Elasticity

The signs include drooping skin, especially around the neck, cheeks, and jawline. This happens due to a drop of skin elasticity.

2. Delayed Wound Healing

Your skin is more susceptible to long-term harm and infections. Do you experience wound healing? This is a sign of slow protein.

3. Dull, Dry Skin

Experiencing dry skin henceforth it is devoid of protein. Signs can include making it appear flaky, dry, and lackluster.

4. Increased Signs of Aging

Fine lines, wrinkles, and others  are  early aging symptoms. This is one of the signs of low protein.

Is It True That Gen Z Has Less Collagen than any other generation ?

While there is no research to provide this, but empirical WWD suggests that GenZ are aging faster than millennials or their previous generations. There are a lot of factors that impact the speed of aging and collagen is one of them.

Lot of factors like lifestyle, eating habits, smoking, Stress, Poor diet leads to deterioration of collagen.

Collagen One common mistake that Gen Z makes is having an over-complex skincare routine, emphasizing ingredients rather than what actually their skin needs. As we say, please keep it simple the same way skin minimalism is the new approach to apply what is needed. Sometimes, less is more. Everyone's skin care is different and needs to be customized. Gen z should not go on following trends but rather should do what is best for them.
